309S has excellent weldability due to its low carbon content, which minimizes carbide precipitation. It can be welded using standard fusion and resistance welding methods. When a weld filler is needed, AWS E/ER 309 and 310 are most often specified.
309S offers superior high-temperature performance compared to common grades like 304:
